Hello, I'm Iris!

Teacher | Nuestra Belleza Nevada 2022 | Model I Former Division 1 Athlete I Founder of Read & Rise: Empowering Young Minds

​

Proud to be among the few Mexican-American women with a master's degree. I wish more Latina women had the opportunity and support to pursue higher education. I hope to inspire others to reach for it.

​

I strive to make a difference by empowering students, supporting families, giving back through volunteer work and mentoring others to reach their goals.

​

English wasn't my first language, but I've turned challenges into strength. From running half marathons and traveling solo (to more than 13 countries) to competing in pageants; I believe we can be more than one thing and that it's never too late to start.

​

My passion for pageantry began as a young girl watching Miss Universe, Miss USA, and Nuestra Belleza Latina. Since then I have:

​

👑 trained with national titleholders

👑 worked with interview coaches

👑 completed public speaking courses

👑 participated in mock interviews

👑 served as a mock interview judge

👑 volunteered behind the scenes with several pageant organizations

👑 Advanced the first round on a national tv pageant competition: Nuestra Belleza Latina the reality.

Through all of this I have experienced all parts of the pageantry journey. Earning the title of Nuestra Belleza Nevada 2022 and placing 2nd Runner-Up at the national competition!

​

As a teacher, I have also created opportunities for titleholders to make an impact in the community by inviting them into my classroom and school to read to students, volunteer, and share their platforms.

 

I believe titleholders have the power to inspire the next generation, and I am passionate about connecting community leaders with young minds.

 

I'm excited to share my story and hopefully inspire yours.
